itunes gift card expiry date

hi there... was given an itunes gift card worth $15

i was already able to load it into my itunes account... i can already see it in my itunes... is there any expiration on it? how long can i keep it in my account?

i dont see anything worth purchasing yet

AFAIK, there is no expiry date. Since the card has been redeemed, it'll stay safe in your account until you decide to consume it.

I know the feeling. I had a hard time choosing when I got my first $15 as well. I started out downloading the weekly free song. After a few weeks, I slowly started purchasing a few hard-to-find songs. I was being really careful with how I spent that credit until I got gifted $100. Since then, it became easy to purchase albums I liked. I even purchased CARS (the movie).

when redeemed and used, its only good for 6 months from the date of purchase.

when redeemed and not use, 1-2 years from the date of purchase.

Just to clarify:

2. Gift Certificates and iTunes Cards expire six months from the date of purchase if not applied to an iTunes Store account. Unused balances of credit created in an iTunes Store account expire two years from the date applied to an iTunes Store account or the date of last account activity.

IOW, redeem it asap and never let the balance sit idle for more than two years.
