how do I export to mp3 in Audacity?

How do you get audacity to produce mp3? I only get it to work and convert edited files as wav

To expot audio as an MP3 file you need LAME MP3 encoder the found at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/mac. There you will find other additional plug-ins that expand Audacity. It is a very simple install.
