How do I convert ogg files to mp3 / m4a?
The old Quicktime plug-in to play ogg doesn't seem to work on Tiger / Quicktime 7. Does anybody here have a solution on converting ogg to mp3 under OS X? Most programs I found were for Windows only.

I use SoundConverter
http://www.dekorte.com/projects/shareware/SoundConverter/
I'd advise to decode/decompress to AIFF or WAV (whichever is it's default) and use your favorite App (iTunes, etc.) to encode to the final output, instead of transcoding directly.
It ALWAYS decompresses to WAV i thnk before doing something with it. And since I don't really trust the quality of it's encoders compared to a great LAME plugin (for mp3) and iTunes of course (for AAC), I usually only use it for that purpose.
Hope this helps.

Are you exclusively using a Mac?
If so, I really don't know enough options. Have you tried http://www.whamb.com?
Not sure if it can DEcode to wav/aiff though, much less to transcode.
If not, another way is to play it via Winamp (PC) and have it in disk writing mode. Then encode the .WAV to MP3 or AAC via iTunes (using the LAME plugin if encoding to MP3)
All software I mention in this post are free AFAIK.

ffmpeg
if you are not adverse to command line and open source, ffmpeg will do the job. I have an xcode project file which performs drag and drop from WMA to MP3 that you can modify to whatever you need. If you wanna look at it, just PM me directly
and, apologies, am not able to look into the project right now as i REALLY tied up these few days/weeks/months...
sigh...
pinoy developers, wanna help??

Here's a stopgap solution i discovered. Drag ogg files into Toast and burn as an audio CD. Then import the audio CD into iTunes as mp3 or aac. My ogg files were mostly complete albums so upon burning as a CD with a 2 sec gap between tracks, the track information on the resulting audio CD was correctly identified.

my wma2mp3 droplet (drag and drop) is available at http://homepage.mac.com/juniortan/FileSharing45.html
caveat - for non-protected WMAs only
