you'll want to check out the shure and stanton needles... there are a couple of needles at m1 for sale. their kinda expensive though. if you'll be learning to scratch, i advise buying a cheap pair because you'll be replacing em like crazy. other needle brands out there are ortofon and numark... you can get the numarks at park square. if you'll be scratching then look for the numark cx1, ortofon concorde scratch, stanton 520 sk or skratchmaster v3 or the old school shure m44 (the cheapest... if i recall correctly) you can get the stantons from joint venture... they're the guys and gals who deal stanton locally.

The Shure M44G is a reasonably priced cart that can be used for scratching. The sound is not as clean as the ortofons though but will do quite well.

The Shure M44-7 is their top shelf scratch cart. Ok for club mixing too but does have a bit of a bassy flavor to the sound.

just buying the stylus will definetly be cheaper... but you gotta check the whole needle because if it's old, the problem might just not be the stylus. check out joint venture for stanton products. i'm looking for their number. i'll post it in a bit.

Ah brings back memories. Definetely, the most cost effective solution is the Shure M44. I used to have multiple headshells before running different brands. When I know na "laspagan" or may gusto mag-aral or practice, i would usually load up the Shures.
