Was religious histroy created by a time travelling CD-ROM?
While putting together that next blockbuster multimedia CD-ROM, here's some food for thought.
According to Australian researcher Ron Pegg, religious history was influenced by time travellers taking back copies of a contemporary multimedia CD-ROM! Read the research, and judge for yourself!

i've had this idea in my head since i was a kid. Couldnt it be possible that famous people from history were just time travelers from the future looking to get their names in the history books? hehe, just a thought

...pretty far out... it sounds more like a really bad plot for a bad time travel movie.
The probability of anything happening is directly proportional to its desirability.

Like, umm, Steve Jobs? He does seem to be far ahead of this time.

Since we're talking about time travel here, I'll share with you something about it. Einstein implies with his theory of relativity that we can only move forward through time, not backwards. We can travel through it much faster if we had the technology but it would be impossible to go back. At least that's what Einstein said

but according to brian greene, the arrow of time has more possibilities than we thought. in fact, the three-dimensional world we know (or though we knew) actually has seven more space and time dimensions!
when einstain died, he was working on a possile expansion of the possibilities of the arrow of time, but he died before ever finishing.

Not so fast, Prof. Einstein! Time travel is forbidden by your General Theory of Relativity (1915), but permitted under your uncompleted later Unified Theory of Relativity. Here's what Stephen Hawking has to say (html, pdf):
The conclusion of this lecture is that rapid space-travel, or travel back in time, can't be ruled out, according to our present understanding. They would cause great logical problems, so let's hope there's a Chronology Protection Law, to prevent people going back, and killing our parents. But science fiction fans need not lose heart. There's hope in string theory.
Hawking in a July 2004 interview on BBC: Stephen Hawking has put forward a new theory that changes the way scientists view black holes, saying he was wrong about them in the past.
And what others have to say. What he is talking about is Everett-Wheeler-Graham. Whew, veering way out of topic for this category....continued here

exactly what i'm saying, maccess. this is why i love physics. like writing, there's no end to the possibilities.

reviving this old thread...
Interesting theory. If it were true, then:
1) Time travel technology is available now, and might have been available for quite some time. Based on their interpretation of Egyptian hieorglyphics, what was "brought back" to ancient egyptian times is a typical computer from the 90s and early 2000s--CPU, monitor, mouse, CD ROM... Who knows what computer CPUs, input devices and media would look like in the future?
2) Separate CPU and monitor...tray loading CD rom drive...the time traveler was a PC user! Darn!
