Loss of Quality on images
Hi, guys.
The previous designer of my company was an illustrator user.
I am a Photoshop user. And my problem is that when i exported an artwork from illustrator to Photoshop, there seems to be a lot of loss in quality like colors , sharpness, etc.
I tried to export files on 300dpi but still to no avail.
Can anyone tell me what seems to be the problem?

Re: Loss of Quality on images
Hmmm.... could this be caused by the conversion from vector to bitmap?
Cheers!

Re: Loss of Quality on images
Try to export in its actual size and adjusting the image size to 300dpi in photoshop. Maybe you export or paste in photoshop with a smaller canvass size or resolution. there is also a loss in color in case you exported an RGB image to a CMYK canvass. Another tip, when you copy a vector in photoshop from illustrator, dont press ener right away, try to resize the image vector first to its maximum size inside the canvass beforre pressing enter.

how do you export your file from illustrator to photoshop?
try to export your illustrator file as a tiff (assign resolution) or pdf then open through photoshop.
sometimes i simply copy paste the vector image to photoshop as a layer then it still recognizes the image as a vector when you try to enlarge or reduce it, the image retains its character as vector.
hope this helps.

as an advice all artworks should be done in illustrator. there will huge loss of quality because images in illustrator are vectors. in photoshop most are converted to raster by default. the dpi doesn't matter much, when you interpolate or transform the images there will be loss colors and sharpness evetually in the amount done.

Photoshop can open Illustrator .ai files directly as a generic pdf format. Just set the appropriate size and resolution on the dialog box upon opening the file in Photoshop. HTH

Thanks for the tip. But what's the ideal maximum size of the vector images in illustrator?

Artworks should be done in illustrator? Do you mean like cartooning and sketching too ?
Because i have been using Photoshop's pentools in creating my cartoons lately mainly because I am not too familiar with Illustrator yet.
