I still need a Macbook Pro though! Some conventional graphics work really needs some serious 3D graphics card horrsepower. And After Effects is one of them.

I have to emphasize this. A lot of people in the creative biz (me included) tend to obess too much on the most powerful tools (fastest Mac/PC, high end cameras, most expensive scanners etc) and tend to overpay for what we use when years before artists and designers have been designing countless works of great art in many fields on much lesser hardware.
Imagine working on graphics in 1998 or even 1985.

Well, he did max out his Mini, and yes, dvsadvocate, since I understand you are into video editing, your requirements are different from working purely on vector. I wish you can have your MBP (or, marloalpha's G5)

I can vouch for working on complex graphics using memory hog apps in 1995-98 on a medium-config (e.g. not maxed out) PC! And what a process it was :slanted: which I always likened to pregnancy and giving birth.
