Default InDesign CS: how do you typset a Peso Sign??

Am laying out and fixing up my dad's book for publication, and in the manuscript, a plain letter "P" was used in MS Word whenever a Philippine peso sign was needed.

Has anyone figured out a way to make a proper peso sign using InDesign CS? The font i am using is Book Antigua. Don't know much yet about OpenType's intricacies -- is there a way of producing a peso sign that looks good using it? Say, a capital "P" and an equal sign sort of raised to the upper half of the letter "P", both overlapping just right?

If there is no solution yet out there, short of using Fontographer or something like that which i would rather avoid, well, i can always spell out "pesos" whenever it is needed. Kaya lang, sayang. I don't sew or cross-stitch for leisure, but i do kindda craft words together on the Mac, so am curious if anyone here has figured this out.

In InDesign go to Type>Glyphs and look for the special character you want to use.

Yup, tried Glyphs but no peso sign there. It's interesting to wander around Unicode Country, and find these characters:

Unfortunately, so many font characters all around me, but not a peso sign to ink!

It is possible in Word but not the usual Peso sign we know. Can you do copy & paste?

Huh? It shows in mine. Maybe the type your using does not have one. A work around would be to use another font that has the special character ? in it. Another work around that I used here is to use TextEdit. Go to Edit>Special Characters>Currency Symbols>Select your preference and click on Insert. Your pick will be inserted in the document you're working on.
    Good Luck!

Oops... The peso sign shows up when I Type it in but shows as a ? when posted. Anyways take my word for it. It works in other apps, definitely in InDesign.

If your desperate, you can type capital P then the equal sign after it (=), highlight the P and = then change the tracking until they overlap. You can find tracking as AV with directional arrows in the bottom. Hope this works.

Ok! Although it works in text edit, here is the right way to do work around #2. Place an insertion point in the document where you want the special character to appear. In the Input Menu icon in the menu bar (if this doesn't show go to SystemPrefs>International>Click on Show Input Menu...) open the Character Palette>All Characters>Symbols>currency symbols>choose the symbol you want.

Apple symbols and LucidaGrande. It comes out automatically in the character palette since they are system fonts.

surprise, surprise, i forgot about the strikethrough options in the character palette!
    Good job, Mac-liing, good job

the top is dixtreme's suggestion of overlapping tracking of the P and = sign
the bottom is the result of the strikethrough adjustment

Am only on 10.2.8 and somehow, no peso sign in my currency symbols or in Lucida Grande. I can't see Apple Symbols... Good thing i stumbled on the strikethrough options. Plus i can still fiddle around with inventing my own kind of strokes, saw that dialogue box somewhere but forgot how i got to it.
