Imagine yourself as a Creative Director for TBWA \ Chiat \ Day.
The PhilMUG board stands before you. They hand you a design brief. It says:
"Make a new logo for PhilMUG. It has to rock our socks. It must be identifiable with the Apple brand, and must fit seamlessly with our current website design. Must have distinct Philippine flavor to it. Must have space to accommodate full nomenclature of 'Philippine Macintosh Users Group'. Must look great on future merchandise, like tube socks, boxer briefs, commemorative plates, belt bags, membership cards, and pocket protectors."
How would you crack it?

Re: IF you could re-design the PhilMUG logo, how would you do it? Personally, I think instead of the Finder icon, the gray Apple logo should be used. (I assume since PhilMUG is the Apple-recognized MUG in the country, use of this logo wouldn't pose a problem?)

Re: IF you could re-design the PhilMUG logo, how would you do it? Here's my try... it maybe a little too patriotic i guess... I know there will be better ones but this is what I could think of at the moment, funny that Raf mentioned use of the apple logo as that was exactly on my mind.

I really really like that design.
Just some suggestions for an alternate/comparison:
-Shrink the Apple so that it's 1/2 the height of the flag
Or, instead of the national flag, try something based off of the Philippine Naval Jack:
