duplicate the image. Make sure its a separate layer. Flip the duplicate image. Click on the layer of the duplicate image, then at the bottom of the layer panel you should see some icons. Click on the mask icon. another icon should appear beside the image icon on the within the same icon. Click the mask icon to select. Then on the tool bar select gradient tool (foreground and bacground color should be black and white) , then create a gradient vertically.
