Gadget for sketching on the go?
With a MacTablet still on the rumor stage, can anyone recommend me a cheap/light tablet computer (pc or mac) which I can use for on-the-go sketching? Preferably, it can run photoshop and painter, even if only photoshop elements and painter essentials.
Also, it should be penabled, meaning it has Wacom's technology built-in. Thanks

On-the-go sketching? Nothing beats a pen and paper for that.

I agree with brireaos, the perfect on-the-go sketching tools are pen and paper. I especially like the Moleskin drawing notebook. Now for a real gadget, then the Axiotron Modbook would suit your needs perfectly.

You could try pen and paper - and then just use a scanner afterwards to digitize the sketch for use in PS or Corel Painter.
Cheers!

I was thinking more of something like an on-the-go cintiq.

I found an answer albiet an expensive one.
Fujitsu T2020 tablet pc. It has wacom technology embedded in the screen.
It's a portable 12" screen laptop and weighs 1.5 kg only
Two caveats though.
1. Only 512 levels of pressure compared to 1024 intuos3/cintiq and 2048 intuos4.
2. A whopping P115,000 local price.

Actually, that's an idea, but I haven't been able to find a pen/stylus. Drawing with your fingers is kinda hard.

Check if the Gigabyte M912 netbook can be an alternative. It has a 8.9" touch screen that can be twisted like a tablet and it comes with a stylus. Slight modification on the stylus may be needed to get the same feel with a real pen. I have setup one installing the ArtRage software, similar to Sketchbook Pro by Autocad, runnning winXP. I had one multimedia student tried it out and according to him, it works.
