Default Converting an Image to 4 bit BMP

Hi guys! I need some help. I need to convert icons that I made in Illustrator to a 4 bit BMP file. I can't find any option in Illustrator CS3, and if I use Photoshop CS3, the 4 bit option is grayed out, the only possible options are 8 bit and above. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks guys!

Default Re: Converting an Image to 4 bit BMP

Just found out how to do it.

i'm going to post it here for those who need the info:
    (taken from this DMN forum)

"To create a 4-bit BMP, you first switch to Indexed Color (Image > Mode > Indexed Color), and then you choose "Local (Perceptual)" for the palette and set the number of colors to 15. Then you can save it as a 4-bit BMP. You can play around with the dither options to help make it look better, but it's never going to look great.

[EDIT: I originally said to set the number of colors to 8, but you can go up to 15 and still save it as a 4-bit BMP.]
