    Default WRT54G Antenna\'s

Anyone know where i can get high gain antenna's locally? I'm thinking of getting two higher gain omni's and buying an extention cable so i can move them further away from the base station and outside the room the base station is stuck in.

typically, one would just move the AP to a central area, as high as possible, to obtain better wireless coverage. An AC extension cord and a long patch cable is all you need.

Personally, I'd just buy a cheap AP and plug it into one of the available ports on the wireless router. You could, alternatively, setup that AP as a wireless bridge, that is if the router and AP can "see" each other. With a bridge, you will have way better extension and reach, compared to a high-gain antenna.

BTW, I do have a cheap Linksys WAP-11 (first gen.) for sale. U2U me if you want it.

I've been debating on doing that.. only problem with the house is all the poured concrete. I know of the perfect location for another AP but the problem is getting a patch upstairs from the den. Why they use poured concrete for second floor floorings is beyond me. Beams would have been a much better solution. Does anyone have a cheap WET54GS5 or WAP54G they're willing to sell?

Oh yes.. just a quesion to add.. How should you point the antenna's to the area you need the signal? Does adjusting the antenna angle even help?

another option instead of buying another antenna is to do a DIY Cantenna or a parabolic. Do a google and you'll see tons of material on this stuff.
A lot of designs posted on the internet are downright quirky but some designs seem realistic, add gain and apparently works, not to mention inexpensive.

Try PC Options at gilmore. i think i sell it there. They have a linksys antenna on their display cabinet. Not sure if they have it on stock. I was suppose to get one, but decided to get the airport express instead and used it as a wireless bridge, which i was able to do.
