Default SOS CAN\'T GET MY AIRPORT CARD TO JOIN MY HOME WIRELESS

    Hi everyone,

I need some urgent help. I just got my airport card installed today at LMK and was working great. But as soon as I got home to try it, i can't seem to make it join my wireless router which was working great for my wireless laptop pc. I am presently connected via the ethernet to the router and is working fine. This ibook of mine is presently included in the MAC addresses of the router for access.

My router is the SMC Barricade.

    HELP!!!
    :wound:

What happens when you try to connect? Any error messages?

it's difficult to troubleshoot this way. I'll suggest a few things that you may want to try.

    1. Reset the wireless router to default settings. No security, no MAC filtering, etc.
    2. Create a new network preference location (name it TEST, for example), but do not change any of the settings. Select that new location.

See if you are able to connect on full default settings. If not, then we'll try some other steps. Good luck.

You can now rename that TEST setting to Automatic. You can also start tinkering with the router's settings for security (that is, if you want to install security).

    Glad it worked out.

You probably had some manual settings in your network preferences. By default, your router will assign IP addresses via DHCP. Therefore, your computer should have the same setting (using DHCP).

If you end up having other locations that require manual settings (like connecting to PLDT myDSL directly via PPPoE), you shouldn't change settings in the Automatic location. You should create a new one specifically for those locations.
