    Default SMS on Mac?

I just bought a Nokia 6600 and i want to try using the bluetooth connection to send SMS messages from my Mac. I was wondering if there is an SMS program for Mac that allows me to connect wirelessly with my Nokia and send SMS messages from the computer? If so what is it and where can i get it? I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks and Happy Easter!!!

...but before doing reysantos' suggestion, make sure that your mac and your phone are properly "paired".

Yes you can, francismir. It's long been a much-used freebie benefit for Mac users. Muggers swear by it, and think its not just a convenience, its more an indispensable feature.

The messages pop up on screen, and you just answer right there and hit the Reply button. All without touching the phone. Some people pay for Phone Agent, which is basically Address Book on steroids, but I'm happy with the free one that came in the box.

In fact, it gets so easy texting back and forth with someone on a similar setup that before you know it it becomes like chatting. Until you realize you're spending a peso a pop, if you have a postpaid cell account. Ngek.

Hi Adel! That settles it! I'll be buying a Bluetooth dongle later. I hate it because for some bizarro reason my cell phone has no coverage in my room hence it has to be in the sala for me to send and receive texts so you can imagine the difficulties! Anyway just a question to you then, are all bluetooth dongles available at computer stores plug and play compatible with the mac and furthermore, they say that the range is 10 meters. I'm sure that my bedroom is not 10 meters from the sala, does this mean that i can keep my phone in the sala and receive messages? Does bluetooth need line of sight or do walls minimize its connectivity? Thanks a million again!

    Before anything else:
-there are factors that make "10 meters" less than 10 meters like concrete walls and other obstructions. You might want to try the
    USBBTC1A instead.

-I noticed that the phone in question is the Nokia 6600. Has this model actually been confirmed to send/receive SMS via Address Book? AFAIK, the safest bet for this function to work is an SE phone such as the t68, t68i, t610, t630.

    Someone please confirm.

For the most part, most of the dongles work with Macs, but I'm no expert. I have had personal experience with the Billionton brand, as do a lot of the guys here, and I have no complaints. It works with all my stuff - the Macs, the cell, the Tungsten...

If you don't need longer than a 10-meter range (which works in a regular room) get the cheaper Class 1 kind, which is what I have. The Class 2 dongles are 100 meters in range, and aren't excessively more expensive than the Class 1, and would suit your needs more. (Am I switching them around? Is the 100-meter Class 2 or Class 1? Whatev.)

Ha. Wait till you discover the pleasures of Clicker or Romeo, which allows you to your phone as a bluetooth remote for many of the apps on your Mac. Like controlling iTunes from far away, or controlling your Keynote presentation from accross the room... ah wait! You use a Nokia 6600 pala! Uh-oh. Not sure about Clicker or Romeo compatibility. Those programs were originally designed for Sony-Ericsson phones (which is why most Mac users and Muggers here sport a T68i, T610 or some of the newer SE phones.)

A BT dongle is a good investment, nonetheless. Go for it!
