powerbook + airport express + pldtdsl + peecee
I recently installed an airport express [an early xmas gift!] using my powerbook.
There were no problems in the network or in connecting to the internet until the dsl modem was unplugged from the airport and plugged directly into a peecee.
And then the DSL connection stopped working.
The light indicates that the problem is with the DSL - no connection coming in from pldt. The airport still works.
Has anyone had a similiar problem?
Or any possible solutions?
Any input will be greatly greatly appreciated.
Aaaaarrrgggghhhh! I spent hours waiting for a customer representative from PLDT in the wee wee hours of the morning. No one picked up. Not at 11 pm, or at 1 am or at 3 am or at 7, 8, 9, 10. So unless the entire subscription base was calling continuously at the same time I was, it seems that their 24-hour service line is nothing but a ruse to keep irate customers at bay. Unless of course they do have agents who just nap or cavort about uselessly.

The DSL modem HAS to be plugged in to the Airport Express unit for it to share your DSL connection
The Airport Express can only share the Internet connection with Wi-Fi capable devices. I take it you want your PC and your PowerBook to be able to access the Internet at the same time? Is your PC Wi-Fi capable? If not, you'll have to either get a wireless USB adapter (e.g. D-Link DWL-G122 Wireless USB Adapter) or a wireless PCI adapter (e.g. D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 PCI Adapter).

the DSL modem was plugged into the Airport Express and was working beautifully. It was then unplugged and plugged directly into a PeeCee. Then it stopped working [modem seems to be working: power and ethernet indicators are lit; no light though for the DSL indicator].

yes. PeeCee is wi-fi capable. In fact, it is already on the Airport Express network. I just can't get the internet access on either the powerbook or the PeeCee.
Catrina, Modem reset doesn't do the trick either.
Thanks.

You have to unplug the DSL modem from the PC and plug it back into the Airport Express. Let's take it from there.

Now, try unplugging the Airport Express from the power outlet and plugging it back in. Your connections seem to be in order, it could be that your DSL service is really down. If you want, you can IM me (AIM: n3zoftgpenguin, Yahoo: penguin45ph) and I'll try to walk you through it so we can figure out where the problem is. It's a little tricky to troubleshoot these things.

mydsl repair stopped by today. It's all fixed - blame it on a faulty modem. Apparently, the person that installed it did not do it properly [or was just lazy, according to today's repair guy] and it finally conked out.
An indication of improper installation was the static over the phone - a problem that numerous repair guys over the past 3 years could never resolve [argh!]
Here's tip to all frustrated mydsl home subscribers:
If you can't get through to 173 for repair, dial 177 instead.
That's the number for corporate accounts.
A few rings, and you're in [apparently PLDT has a greater sense of reponsibilty towards those big corporate accounts].
They won't be able to dispatch a repair person,
but will be able to patch you through 173 or give you a direct line to someone.
