    Default phone agent users unite

i've been using phone agent for many months now and it's become an indispensable everyday tool.

one feature i'd love to see in it though is concatenated messaging, which would allow you to send more than 160 characters in one message.

i've written to macmedia about adding this feature and they said they'd consider it. so the more people who ask for it, the better the chances are they'll put it in.

drop them a note if you can...

Definitely, Phone Agent needs to work past that 160 character limit.

Another feature I requested for is the ability to type the first few letters of a contact into the SMS recipient name entry box and have Phone Agent auto-complete the name instead of having to select it in the ironically named "Quick Find" window.

Otherwise, a very useful piece of software. I haven't touched Address Book for months.

If any of you have both Salling Clicker and PhoneAgent, let me know if you're interested in a tip on how to have Phone Agent automatically connect and disconnect using the Clicker proximity sensor. Great for guys like me who constantly leave and return to my desk dozens of times a day!

Am interested in your tip, VIC! Manually connecting & disconnecting PhoneAgent sure gets pretty tiresome after a while.

While concatenated messaging would be nice to have in PhoneAgent, I feel that the current limit helps discipline me in keeping my messages to clients/family/friends brief & always straight to the point.

Ergo, ever since I started using PhoneAgent, I no longer go over my monthly SMS limit. Something I was always guilty of when I was using GSM Remote, w/c supported concatenated messaging.

Anyway, will e-mail our Slovakian friends at Macmedia for you, CHUT.

I agree on that 160 character limit, something that even Address Book.app hasn't addressed (no pun intended) either.

Same with Vic, I find that sending out that first SMS is tedious (SMS > New SMS > Quick Find > key in the first two letters of the recipient > double click on recipient's name). Autofill would definitely be a nice feature.

I also don't like the Phonebook download/upload feature. It's not a true synchronization. If only PhoneAgent can simply call up Address Book.app's database, then, all you have to do is iSync.

Still, PhoneAgent remains in my top 10 list of most indispensable applications.

Chut, that sounds like a separate thread by itself!

Mainly, though, I just use it as a remote for iTunes, iDVD and VLC. I don't do presentations very often, but when I do, the fact that I'm using my phone as a remote invariably outshines the actual Keynote presentation!

Absolutely no regrets paying for PhoneAgent!

The guys at Macmedia are also very efficient & prompt when it comes to tech support.
