    Default Network File Transfer

I just would like to ask if you encounter this problem in a
    network environment.

For example a have a file (example.taost) that is 4Gig
and I want to transfer it to another workstation...
it will only copy 2Gig (or so) of that file and you can't use it.
    even if you compressed it...
(copying that 4Gig file to an external fw hdd, its okay)

But if you want to transfer a FOLDER with different files on it
(let's say 7Gig) to another workstation... its okay.

    Hmmm......

The folder you are trying to access on the network could be on a FAT32 partition, which only handles single files of up to 4GB (or probably less). Converting it to NTFS would work in this situation, assuming that the 'network environment' you are talking about is Windows based.

Here's one solution I can think of.... (talking to myself):P
If I want to copy a file (2Gig or so) copied to my mac from another
mac workstation I'll just connect an external hdd and drag that file in there...
then transfer it to my mac. done.

    Here's another question:
A Mac running on a latest MacOS X (10.3.8) can use a long filenames.

But, if you are on a mac network environment having long filenames sometimes will give you problems.

    Scenario:
I want to copy a file from another mac workstation (network environment).
He used a long filename (ex. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)

If he's going to connect to my mac and "PUSH" it to my desktop, he won't be able to do so. Error : "You cannot copy some of these items to the destination because their names are too long or contain incalid characters for the destnation......"

But, if I will connect to his mac and "PULL" it to my destop, I can copy it. But, you will notice that the filename have been changed from AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA to AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA#52D86
