Default msn messenger, os x and netgear wgr614

okay guys, here's a difficult one.

i have an ibook with the original airport card. i've just recently acquired a netgear wgr614 to replace my just-died mr314.

everything works perfectly, with the latest firmware upgrade, i'm using WPA-PSK authentication.

only problem is: msn messenger disconnects after 10 minutes or so.

everything else works fine...irc, aol, web.

current settings: SPI firewall on, WPA-PSK, MAC address restriction. no port forwarding.

    things i have tried:

    disable SPI firewall
port triggering to port number 1863
used port forwarding 1863 to my ibook
    used wep instead of wpa
    used no encryption
    turned on uPNP (highly dangerous)

none of these things have worked.

oh yeah, i'm connected using bigpond cable, but that's irrelevant as it never happened on my mr314 and it's not disconnecting at all, according to the status screens.

    help.

i've noticed this in my console as well

May 8 20:30:18 localhost kernel: AirPort: New Group Key, Idx 1
    May 8 20:33:33 localhost kernel: AirPort: Rx'd mesg P-1
    May 8 20:33:33 localhost kernel: AirPort: Rx'd mesg P-3
May 8 20:33:33 localhost kernel: AirPort: New Group Key, Idx 1
May 8 20:33:34 localhost kernel: AirPort: New Group Key, Idx 1
    May 8 20:35:34 localhost kernel: AirPort: Rx'd mesg P-1
    May 8 20:35:34 localhost kernel: AirPort: Rx'd mesg P-3

it's been doing that every two minutes while the computer's been idle...

what does this mean anyway? is it setting a new WPA key every two minutes? but i've set key lifetime to every 2 hours in my router...

well, i've been encountering the same problem with msn messenger ver 4. i get disconnected every now and then, most of the time when i'm idle. this happens in yahoo! messenger as well.

what i did was download fire from versiontracker.com. works fine thus far.

    Try Adium. It's prettier.
