more destiny woes
Is it just me or have they gotten smarter?
I have their Wave modem attached to a linksys workgroup hub. the work group hub has a cable going to a winbox and the other to my APX.
Problem is: Whne the winbox can get connected, the mac cannot. when the mac connects, the winbox cannot.
anyway to solve this problem so that both can get connected?
TIA

Ditch the hub and use a router. That way, no matter how many computers are connected to the router, Destiny will only see one (router pa). ;-)

ah... so the hub makes them see that there's two computers using the net. ^_^
Thanks! hehehe... user-error.
What about my APX? Would destiny recognize the APX having multiple users?

Most likely the modem they gave you can only support one DHCP IP address. I forget the specifics of it, but different modems support handling the binding of IP addresses differently. If I'm not mistaken, the Motorola CyberWave modems can only handle one. I was bummed out as that's what I have.

Destiny will only allow one IP per modem unless you subscribed for 2 computers. I use a wirless router and connect other access points through it.

Hi. The answer is DHCP (automatic) settings. Your WRT54GC is a router, so it won't matter that Destiny allows only one IP per modem. That's what routers are for.

Got it to work by going to the linksys support site. At first I called Destiny support to ask about IP's for the router then the tech told me that I will have to pay an additional 600 bucks per month if I'm going to use 2 PCs. Shyeah right! I told her that their ISP sucks and I'm considering other broadbands. Di na nya pinilit. But really, Destiny sucks! Good thing I like the cable tv otherwise matagal na ako nag palit.
