    Default Linksys and Powerbook Problem

I have a linksys wrt54g and an 867 12" albook. My problem is every 5 hours or so.. the powerbook drops its wireless connection with the linksys. I turn the ap on and off and it gets the signal from the linksys.. but doesn't get an IP address. I've manually set the IP address and i still can't ping the linksys or surf.

I know its not a problem with the linksys since when i reboot my powerbook.. the connection is back with absolutely no problems. I just did a clean install of panther.. and i've applied all the updates. Repaired disk permissions.. checked everything i could think of. Anyone know what the problem could be and how I can go about fixing it?

What is the firmware version of your linksys? Have you upgraded to the newer version?

Try one or both of these solutions.

Change the client lease time on the setup screen to 0.

Under the advanced settings under wireless, set beacon time interval to 50.

    Good luck!

    Wow.

It seems like only yesterday that you called me to ask about setting up a wifi network, and if it was really a good idea (and how much it might cost), Papa Gabe. Now you're dishing out arcana that even I don't understand much.

The young Padawan learner is now a true Jedi. The student is now the teacher. Galing a. I'm proud of you, son. *Sniff*.

    Thank you, master Adel.

And you'd be proud to know that I setup my Airport Express (yup, I gave in and got one too!) to bridge with my Linksys WRT54G. Now I have four to five bars throughout the entire house.

    I am a fast learner.

Even cherrie's make up tips, I pick up quickly.

Oh and sorry to burst your bubble, but I get a lot of my Linksys tips from here.

Clickhere for step by step instructions on how to extend your Linksys WRT54G or GS network using Apple Express and the Sveasoft Satori open-source(?) firmware.

Now if I can only learn to be a palanca award winning writer just as quickly, then I would be a true jedi.

Now if I can only sing, act and do improv, I could be a real Jedi as well.
