    Default iSync Incompatible Phone=Erratic Bluetooth?

    Hi guys,

    I just got a Nokia 6680 and unfortunately it's one of the phones that is INcompatible with iSync.

    But I also noticed that my Bluetooth connection between the phone and my Powerbook is erratic--sometimes I can transfer photos from my camera to the PB or vice versa without any hitches. And sometimes my phone can't detect my PB at all or the other way round. I have both set on 'discoverable' and authorized for connections.

    Is this normal for phones that are incompatible with iSync? Shouldn't Bluetooth be a stand-alone platform that works regardless of the apps that use it as a bridge between two devices?

    Salamat...

    Interference from the following maybe causing your problem;

    - 2.4Ghz wireless phones
    - Microwave ovens
    - Airport (try turning it off as a test).

    Good Luck.

    Search iSync on the threads and you might find a solution, a trick or a better replacement for your erratic phone. The topic has been pretty much discussed I guess.

    Try initiating the pairing first from the phone , then from the computer, then try either unplugging the dongle (if it isn't built in) or turning your bluetooth off and on. Then reboot the pbook. These are the steps I had to go through to get my ericsson k750 to connect reliably with my imac.

    thanks guys.

    i actually did a search prior to this but no threads discussed this particular model.

    i did try pairing from the phone first and from the mac first (i'd delete all paired devices then start over) but i keep encountering errors in connecting. i can't even send a vcf from my address book or send sms.

    i hope those symbian guys do something about their compatibility issues. things like this make me want to get a sony ericsson (never had serious problems with my t68 and t610 except for the fact that those were SLOW phones.)

    sigh...:sad:
