If PLDT is trying to impress the hell out of me - it\'s succeeding!
Is it just me?
I have a PLDT myDSL Personal Plan, and the best I get is 32 Kbps.
I woke up and started surfing a half hour ago, and tried to download the Danny Deckchair trailer from the Quicktime trailer site, and was stunned to have the large version completely download - in 40 seconds! It immediately started playing in a window as soon as I hit the 'Click to Play' button.
Used to take me 5 to 10 minutes.
Thinking it was a fluke, I got something again, and the large version of the Alamo trailer came in at under a minute.
Started watching my net meters and ran some tests.
Was shocked to see my bandwidth burtsting at 1 to 1.5 Mbps!
Used 2Wire's test and was getting as high as 2049 kbps.
Netifice reported that my bandwidth was at 1.3 Mbps.
Bandwidth Place said I was hitting 1.6 megabits/second.
My little net meter applet in the menu bar was regularly staying at the 900 Kbps range.
Ran the tests over and over and over and the results were consistent.
Am I going crazy? I'm downloading stuff randomly, and I'm not dreaming. It's still there now, and I hope this lasts.
Wow! Let's just hope that the provider doesn't conk-out. PLDT often goes down during weekends, in my experience. [Fingers Crossed] Maybe they're making up for their sometimes bad service?:drunk: hehehehe
Congrats, Adel! I was just turned down by Bayantel because the Mayaman area is still not dsl activated. I had my second thoughts rushing to the PLDT office in East Ave. because of the poor reviews myDSL have been getting from this site, but what the heck! I applied yesterday and am still waiting for them to survey our area. This indeed is good news and I hope I can get broadband connection asap. Medyo na excite naman ako sa balitang ito.
And by the way, I hope you don't mind me asking. Which plan are you on?
They may already have the necessary equipment to provide the 384 and above bandwidth for myDSL subscribers. They may be tweaking/configuring their system - hence we're getting greater than T1 connections!
Argh! I wanna go home and use my DSL connection Here at work it's a little less than 20kbps  Add to that, I'm using a stupid sloooow desktop pc.
[Still keeping fingers crossed that PLDT server remains up]
