help in what way? maybe if you were a little more specific, it would be easier to fix your problem.

Well since the lineman is coming, you want to connect the dsl directly to your Mac? If you do here it is:

    1. Make sure the ethernet connection coming from the DSL modem is connected directly to your Mac's ethernet port.
    2. Then go to System Pref > Network, make sure the built-in Ethernet is showing.
    3. Then click PPPoE tab, then check "Connect using PPPoE" then type the details (account name and password)
    4. You may want to click Show PPPoE satus in the menu bar for easy access.

I'm guessing there's nothing wrong with your phoneline. Seeing as how inconsistent/problematic PLDT myDSL has been in the last few weeks, I'm 99% sure that our (I'm a PLDT myDSL user myself) connection problems can only be solved by improving things over at the PLDT NOC (Network Operations Center).

how come the config you stated above does not work for me... i cant seem to get a connection when i use PPPoE. I manually connect my dsl on the tcp-ip tab and use dhcp to connect.

btw, im using a SMC adsl barricade router smc7401bra

Only use PPPoE if the DSL modem is connected directly to your Mac's ethernet port. If the DSL modem is connected to a router, you need to use DHCP on your Mac to connect to the router (wired or wireless).

Oh wait, I made a big boo-boo in my previous post. I thought that your setup is: DSL modem -> your own SMC DSL router -> Mac. I just realized that your SMC 7401 is the one provided by PLDT and is the one acting as the DSL modem. Sorry. :-)

With the SMC 7401 as your DSL modem, you can use PPPoE instead of DHCP but you'll have to change some of its settings. Dunno why but PLDT always preconfigure their SMC DSL modem/routers to act as a DHCP server instead of just disabling DHCP and enabling PPPoE. U2U me for the instructions if you want to go the PPPoE way. :-) It won't really improve your connection though so if everything's okay right now, then maybe it's a good idea to just stick with DHCP. ;-)
