Help: Mac MINI question
I just purchased a Mac mini to replace the cpu of my kids pc. I bought the basic unit with bluetooth, 40gb, 256 ram, combo drive.
I need to know if the Linksys wireless UBS network adapter will work by just pluging it into the USB of the Mini mac? or do I have to buy the Pesos 8k wifi kit sold?
:sad::sad: thank you!

It's the 802.11b. its the 2nd link..........
I always thought that instead of getting a wi-fi equipped Mac mini, the linksys could do the job. I plugged it in and its still deaf & blind..........or is there some set-up in the preferences I still have to do?

The biggest stumbling block is that most USB devices need drivers to work. If Mac OS drivers are not available either with the device or with OS X itself, it's not probably not going to work.
The only aftermarket WiFi adapter that will really work is a device called a Wireless Bridge. These devices are OS independent. It will even work with Game consoles.
MacSense makes one as well as D-Link.
Good Luck.

APX Card Alternative Guys, thanks for the heads-up on the options. I was at rockwell last night, and the lady there said that if I had the wireless ubs adapter 802.11b, it should work. grrrrrrrr...... am confused by these people, because i've tried it and it won't work. Coupled with your replies, looks like I will not have a choice but to buy the 8k wireless kit. So far this is a let down when they said that i can adapt most of my PC peripherals. Its my first effort outside the G4. My G4 (15" & 17"), wife and mine respectively, works very well with my Linksys 4-port wireless router 802.11, model BEFW11SA. I have two units wireless usb adapters for the two remaining PC's, and was hoping I'd get that to work with the Mac mini.
Effectively, the wireless kit from apple is a replacement (the real wi fi solution), and NOT an adapter to make my USB wireless adapter work.
Does anyone have a price indication how much the D-link or Macsense would cost against apple's Pesos 8k solution???

The Mini does not have the bluetooth and APX antenna... that's why you just can't stuff an APX card in it.

I think we know this, already. We're just looking for a solution.
OPTIONS:
a. 8k apple wifi kit, OR
b. d-link/macsense/linksys?
Will these alternatives work? How much compared to Apple kit?:no::qmark::no::qmark::no::qmark:
My Mac mini has a bluetooth standard, no wifi, thinking ALL pc peripherals will work and migrate. Lesson: Test before you leap.
