Help! HP Laserjet 1015 can be used via Network
Hi folks,
Our office recently bought a HP Laserjet 1015 (USB+Parralel) printer. It is connected to a PC (Windows XP), and we would like to share the printer throughout our network composed of Macs and other PCs.
Problem: Other PCs can see and print to the printer, but our Mac (10.3.8) can't print to it. We've tried installing the Mac driver which came with the printer, but to no avail. It used to be a simple process of simply - adding printer -> windows printing -> choose the workground -> the printer and corresponding printer driver. This time around, we can't find the printer driver.
Experts, please help or does it mean I have to go the "purchase-a-print-server" route... if indeed, then which is the best print server. As of the moment, we have the following printers:
- HP Deskjet 1220c (USB, parallel)
- HP Laserjet 1015 (USB 2, parallel)
- Xante Accel-A-Writer 8300* (local talk, parallel)
- Tektronix Phaser 740* (ethernet, parallel)
- Epson LQ-100 dot matrix (parallel)
We also have a scanner, Epson Perfection 3200 (USB, Firewire)
Should we decide to go the print server route, is there such a device wherein we can simultaneously connect the deskjet, xante, laserjet, and even the scanner so that these peripherals can be shared via network? That would be awesome since my wife and I are "neat-freaks" - it would be nice to have all our printers and peripherals positioned in a neat row in one side of our office.

Thanks again.

download gimp-print driver at versiontracker.com install it. refer against the compatible list of printers. that's what i did for my laserjet 1315. i installed it, chose laserjet 6 series (according to gimp-print site) and it works now via samba.

Hi, Brian.
I received your text this morning. Yes, it is possible to use a print server for that, however, the key to being able to do what you need to do is configuration.
Since this is a multi printer, multi-OS system, you will need to configure the print server to work with this setup.

Not sure if this would help but would it be possible (in your office environment) to connect the printer to one of the Macs and do the printer sharing there?
Goodluck,
Christian
