Bluetooth Dongles
Well i'm looking for Bluetooth dongles. Just a question though. Are all generic blue tooth dongles compantible with my iMac? There are a lot of bluetooth dongles available at the malls but none of them say that they're mac compatible? Is it safe to buy them then? Will they work plug and play without drivers?

Most of them will really work for OS X despite the lack of documentation on the packaging. I have used a Billionton dongle before upgrading to a PowerBook with built in BT.

Speaking of Billionton, I'm torn between getting the blue one or the black one. I like the blue one simply because it looks better and takes up less space but the black one covers wider range albeit unwieldily and awkward-looking, IMHO. Is there a great difference in the performance? Or how much battery power the latter eats up?
I will appreciate all your insights. Thanks in advance.

i have both the blue and the black one. the black one is what am using now. supposed to have longer range than the blue.
have not notice battery consumption diff. i would think its minimal.

i use dlink's usb bluetooth for my brother's ibook. it's fully compatible with the mac. no problem whatsoever.

I found an el cheapo taiwanese brand that worked perfectly with my iBook before. Only cost me 1.8k.. I'd suggest if you're gonna use it for your portable.. just bring it to the store and try it out

Denny, I have a feeling you and I have the same el cheapo brandless USB Bluetooth dongle. Comes with a lanyard that I attach to my messenger bag so it doesn't get lost. No driver needed, I ignored the packaged CD-ROM and documentation. Bought it in a generic computer shop in Cyberzone SM City North Edsa for 1.8k.
