best non-airport wireless access points?
hi!
would you guys know what the best mac-compatible wireless point is out there?
aside from the airport base station, what's the best?
(in terms of coverage, signal strength, mac and pc compatibility, ease of installation?)
Thanks!

If you want cheap, I bought a Fulbond Access Point in Singapore a couple years ago. Working quite well, signal is quite strong for a cheapo AP. Has the web based config and everything. It only cost me Sing 100, or about Php3K. Probably price dropped already. Omly thing is that its B. There may be cheaper ones out there but this has served my purpose quite well.

D-link DI-624+
Only 4998.00 at Villman. Works well in my office set-up.

Actually, as long as there's a built-in web-based config, they're all Mac-compatible. You might be looking for a wireless router though (which the AirPort Base Station is). Access points don't have the ability to share one connection over numerous computers (unless a router is installed before it).
I'm using a Linksys Wireless B Broadband Router at home, which now retails at P4,488. the Wireless G Broadband Router retails at P5,488.
I like Linksys, great value, fantastic range and so easy to use.
What you don't get with non-APBS routers are: a modem port, a USB port for wireless printing, and a way cool form factor.

Still top on my list are:
- Linksys (WRT54G)
- D-Link (DI-624+)
- Netgear (WGR614) -- I'd scratch out technical support
I particularly like Linksys because of the customizable firmware (use Linux on the device), but D-Link devices are just as good.
