    Default APX Card Alternative

    Hello guys,

I just need some ideas of possible alternatives for the Airport Extreme card that will work with a mac mini via USB.

It is annoying to know that inorder for a user to install the APX card to a mac mini, one has to install first a thing called a mezzanine board for the APX card wouldn't fit on the mac mini without this board.

I tried using lynksis WUSB54G but it will not work. Also the ASUS WL-167g will not work on macs as quoted by my local supplier.

    Can anyone suggest something.

    Thanks!

I have been trying to make the Dlink DWL-G122 USB(rev B) adapter to work but no luck yet. i downloaded the driver from the chip manufacturer (ralink) and followed the suggestions in the forums and still no luck.

You can try you luck from other cards using the Ralink RT2500 from this list : http://ralink.rapla.net/

You can get the driver from this site : http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm

There are other third party drivers out there for some wifi chipsets
like Orangeware for the Atheros chip :
    http://www.orangeware.com/endusers/wirelessformac.html

The Belkin F5D7010 is supposed to have support for Mac OS X, but i havent tested it. The Cisco Aironet 350 PCMCIA works well with my officemates Powerbook 15 ".

Are you looking for a USB or a Card adapter ?

You need to purchase the AP kit for mac mini since it contains all the necessary parts. While you're at it, it's better to let an authorized technician install the AP card for you if you're not too comfortable installing it yourself.

i've been able to make D-Link DWL-G122 works on my PB G4/400 TiBook running Tiger. I just downloaded the RA 2500 driver from their support page.
