    Default Airport express printer problem

My hardware: ibook g4, HP printer (driver installed)

then i bought an Airport express... it worked on the internet and air tunes but im having problems setting up my printer..

i believe you setup the printer by selecting RENDEZVOUS... the printer manager saw the printer under RENDEZVOUS but it didn't install the driver... so now, i couldn't ADD the printer...

Anyone here knows how could i get my printer to work with APX? thanks!

I don't think you should have to install a driver that has been installed already. Have you tried just selecting the printer and making it the default? I'm not sure about this because I use an IP printer and I just type in the Printer address and click "Add" (no need to mess with drivers).

hi nico... yeah i have tried that but it searched my USB ports for the printer... since the printer is connected to the APX, it didn't see my printer...

Now if i choose Rendezvous, it can see the printer (connected to the APX) but couldn't install the driver.. the message "driver not installed" appears, ADD button is grayed out... so i can't add the printer...

still figuring out a way to use my printer

    thanks

printing wirelessly is so SWEET! And i made it more complicated than usual first time around thinking it was supposed to be, but knowing apple... I assume your printer is rendezvous compatible as you already saw it listed under rendezvous? then i suggest this:

    1. make sure you can print to your printer WIRED, conventional way. So connect your computer to printer via wire, confirm you can print.

    2. connect your USB printer directly to the airport express base station. Leave your printer on.

    3. on your wireless computer, open print center, your mac's native print ulitily (oops, bulol!) utility software. choose/highlight your printer (same printer driver you used when wired! don't be like me, and succumb to temptation where i tried to add a new printer resulting in a bobo no features generic rendezvous printer).

    4. try to print from any software: choose the command "print". the dialog box appears, click the "Printer" dropdown menu, and among your usual printers voila! you should see your wired printer PLUS the all-important "rendezvous printers". Choose "rendezvous printers", and you should see your now unwired printer under that menu: choose it and witness the magic of wireless printing!

    Hi,

There's a lot of factors to check for (after checking through the Apple Knowledge base), such as if your printer is compatible or not with Rendezvous (yeah, this is the proper way of installing it) and/or if your printer needs updated drivers to work with Rendezvous. I'm going to need the exact model of your printer so I can check it out for you.

So just get back to me soon.

I had a similar problem a week ago when I got my ibook. I tried to print from my print server. Entered the IP address of the printer and nothing happens. Resetting the print server corrected everything.

Default all-in-one printers and airport express

I use a 3-in-2 HP PSC1315. Direct connections to my Mac's USB port are successful. I can scan and print without any problems. However, printing or scanning via APX doesn't seem to work.

Are all-in-one devices (printer/scanner/copier) incapable of wireless printing? Anyone else using a similar set-up?

I use Tiger, by the way, and whenever I try printing, I just get a dialogue box that says device not found or something like that (I'll try again when I get home and post the message here).

    Thanks.
