    Default What constitutes a \"switch\"?

Just something going through my head the past couple of days
Is one considered a switcher once s/he gets to use any product from Apple (an iPod immediately comes to mind)? Or does it go deeper than that?
Curious as to what PhilMuggers think.

well i think ipods are like an "entry level" to one becoming a switcher.. cuz hopefully they'd get curious if its that easy to use an ipod... what more other products of apple

to really switch, i think you'd have to experience the mac OS, which means getting your hands on and using an apple computer. "switching" from a nomad or a rio to an ipod is, well, good for starters, as polar mac says--but it leaves a lot to be desired (and to be learned), doesn't it?

the term switch, switching, or switcher is generally applied to pc users who veer away from exclusively using windows as an operating system and shift to OS X (or classic OS). thus, for me, just getting an ipod is 'technically' not switching especially when one is not a former user of a windows-based (or any other OS) mp3 player.

switch,v."an event in which one thing is substituted for another; the act of changing one thing or position for another

    just my :2cents:

"or selling one's peecee to in order to buy a second hand clamshell"

yep i am exagerating but simply it is - letting go of another thing for the better.

Using an iPod is a start but I would not consider having one to mean the same as making the switch. Getting one could be the start that would eventually lead to becoming a mac user (just as it happened to me). People call this the "halo effect" which is the notion that strong sales of iPods will spill over into sales of Mac.

Default It goes beyond the brand.

Switching is all about embracing the Mac OS.
Using a Mac can change your life. Switching MP3 player brands won't.
