With at least two e-mail services offering 1-gig worth of space for free, I'm thinking of finally giving up my various e-mail accounts and consolidating them under either Spymac or Gmail.
I'm actually inclined to sign up for Spymac because it's available now, but I like Google's approach a lot and David Pogue's review of Gmail has got me thinking that maybe it's worth the wait.
Any comments from actual users would help a lot. BTW, POP3 access is very important to me (and Gmail doesn't offer that at the moment).
Last thing I heard was that Gmail was "by invitation only". I don't think you can just sign up. The reviews have been great though. So much so that I hear Gmail accounts are being auctioned off at eBay for $100-$150 and a swap site has been put up.
I've been using spymac for a couple of months already. It's pretty good but what peeved me was that they "banned" yahoo groups from sending mail to it. I used to get at least 600 mails in a day coz mostly from yahoo groups and I guess a lot of people were doing it too, thus eating their server hdd space.
But other than that, I have no complaints as of late.
Spymac!! Clincher? With Spymac you're able to check your email with your choice of email program.
Edit: I've been having problems sending and recieving emails ever since they upgraded their servers. In my case, I just use my Spymac address for registration in different websites and other non-critical purposes
UPDATE: Hmm... I was about to sign up for Yahoo's 2GB Yahoo!Plus account (can't really give up my Yahoo account and profile because of the various groups I belong to) when I received a Gmail invitation.
Have been using it for a week and so far so good. This afternoon, though, the service was flaky, and several times I couldn't access the service.
