    Default registering your applecare

has anyone tried to register their applecare through the web?

how do you go about it? i couldnt find anything on the apple asia site. but only on the international site.

but, philippines is not part of the list when you fill-up your profile.

so how will they snail-mail you the certificate if you are not based anywhere on their list?

    * i know you can probably use an US address, but just wondering if any of you have had similar experiences and made it through..

    Hi Kai,

When I used to have my G3 iBook, I purchased Applecare for it in the States. I had it registered there as well (via phone, USA address). About a week after I bought Applecare, my iBook's logic board blew on me. I was already in the Philippines at that time and didn't have the certificate with me.

So I went over to Powermac and showed them the CD that came with the Applecare. It had a CD inside with an enrollment number written on the CD case. They said that was good enough to claim warranty.

Sorry if I'm just running around in circles.. but now that I think about it, why did I even register for applecare?

As long as you show your proof of purchase (both machine & applecare) and enrollment number, I believe you are good to go.

i registered my applecare through the web for my US-bought tibook, and my ebay-bought applecare, no problem.

it was trickier when i tried to register my locally-bought applecare for my US-bought albook; the asian applecare website couldn't recognize my albook's serial number, and the US-based applecare website couldn't recognize my applecare's number.

it got resolved only when i asked lawrence of apple center (from whom i had bought the applecare) to do the registration for me; apparently dealers have a back door to the system that allow them to punch in the numbers we can't.

If I remember right...I did register on the web, but at that time the link was given to me by email. Then I sen't my Albook serial number by mail after which they gave us a serial number of some sort.

As what sir Butch mentioned, better ask the local reseller where you purchase the AppleCare.

The key here is don't lose that enrollment or Applecare number of somesort.

    Sir penmanila,

I am thinking of getting applecare for my new-to-me imac 24" 2.4ghz. This was originally bought in england and brought here to Manila by the previous owner. According to the apple support page, it is still under warranty until 10 February 2009. I don't have any documentation though (invoices, etc.).

So, if I buy an Applecare Plan from the US through ebay (around $89) and have it mailed to my brother in the US, can I have my brother open the package, send me the info, and I can register it myself through the web?

    Thanks!

No problem, as long the enrollment number (also known as ACPP code) have not been activated yet.

Maybe, the best way, try register your Mac online based on where did you had bought your Mac from. Try Show Complete Country List if you won't see your country on list.

can anyone explain how the whole process works? i've been wondering the same thing. i can get applecare for my MBP for around 10-11k if bought on ebay. it retails here for 16k, so its 5-6k saved. however, a lot of the sellers on ebay will only send the code. how do you actually activate that code?

Hi, you can get a very decent price if you contact Charlie Paw. You won't be disappointed with the price of APP he can give you for your MBP.

You only need the code to register your APP. It is in the sticker in one of the booklets inside your APP box.

How to Register Applecare through the web?
    1. Open your APP box.
    2. Read the instructions in the manual/pamplet that contains your agreement number.
    :-D Hehe.

    Seriously,
    1. Go to www.asia.apple.com/support/register
    2. Click "Register a new agreement" (requires Apple ID login).
    3. You will be then directed into the page that says "AppleCare Agreements". Click the "Get Started" button.
    4. Log-in using your AppleID.
    5. You will then be directed to a page where you will have to enter your location. This is a drop-down menu list. You'll notice that "Philippines" is not yet on the list so go to the bottom of that list to click the "Show all countries". It will appear as nothing happened but when you click the drop down menu, you'll notice that the list got longer and you will be able to find the Philippines.
    6. Just fill-up the rest and follow the other instructions in the succeeding page.
    7. After the registration of the agreement is complete, you will then see a page that acknowledges your agreement and you will be able to receive a confirmation via email (the address that you will enter in step 6.).
    8. Smile. The process is done and your warranty is now extended for 2 more years.

    HTH.

there is an option after registration whether to have your APP agreement sent via email or via snail mail

choose the email option if you don't have a U.S. address
