Default PLDT DSL...help connecting 1st gen. iMAC

i need some assistance connecting my DSL to my iMAC, which still cureently runs OS 8.6. i do not have any installation CDs that came with my iMAC.

right now, i connected my DSL to my Ti PB. it was an easy connection because of the PPPoE, but for my iMAC it's a lot harder to connect. My PB, all i had to do was provide the username and password and i was connected. all the necessary information was plugged in (ISP), once i inserted the username and password. however, with my iMAC i can't find the window to input such information to log on. is there a site i can download the necessary information or plug-in which i will then burn on to a CD and install on my iMAC. i'd prefer to take care of this myself, rather then waiting for PLDT to assist me.

can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?

    thanks!

thanks kenneth for you quick response. i'll try installing ENTERNET. do you know if this will work with OS 8.6. i read the link you sent of a past thread, and it was related to someone using OS9, so i was just wondering if it would serve my purpose too, since i'm on an older OS.

do you know if ENTERNET will provide me with a similar window...a PPPoE???

thanks again for the quick reply

Yes, it should work with 8.6

Yes, thats what its for. In the first place, the PLDT should have given you a copy of Enternet. Ah well, good luck.

ok guys, i loaded the program ENTERNET and got a similar window of the PPPoE for my iMAC (OS 8.6). i was able to enter my username and password. when i clicked 'CONNECT'; a message said 'Authenticating user'; and the my DSL connection light was flashing on the modem (as if to signify it was processing the information). But at then end of a minute i got a message that read my connection failed.

anyone have this problem before? anyone have personal experience going through this?

    thanks!

Let's try to rule out MyDSL as the problem. Have you tried connecting to your MyDSL using a different Mac/PC?

Are you sure you typed your login/password correctly? Is your network setting set on DHCP?

i think MyDSL could be a problem. the reason i say that is because when i first hooked up the DSL, PLDT was having trouble logging me in when i connected my powerbook. the service technician had to go back to the office and find out what was wrong. after a few phone calls and attempts from PLDT we finally got it to work.

now, i need to connect my DSL to my iMAC and i'm having difficulty doing so. i followed the instructions on how to connect and use ENTERNET with my iMAC (OS 8.6). i made several attempts without success. the furthest i got was to get the DSL connection light blinking, but after a minute it produced a message on my screen saying 'Connection Failed'.

i will call PLDT tomorrow, but i am hoping to solve this problem before a technician visits. if anyone has any other suggestions how to connect please let me know. or if you've gone through similar problems and resolved them, let me know. please be detailed. thanks in advance.

I have an iMac 233 as well. But I upgraded it to make it run OS X. It's running quite well, actually. Total expenditure for the upgrade: around 6.5k. You might want to consider the route I took.

    Suggestion lang naman... Good luck!
