I recently gave up on my iPod 15gig and got a 40gig instead. What can I say? Space is of the essence.

Got me an 8x DVD±RW drive a couple of months back (NEC ND-2500A). Flashed it with a hacked firmware using a Wintel PC and it's now an RPC-1 (region-free) drive. Nice. ;-) Not the fastest 8x DVD±RW drive out there (at least with 8x burns) but writing quality is superb (yup, better than the Pioneer DVR-107D). Originally installed this one internally as a partner to my 52x Lite-On CD-RW drive. LaCie's got a driver for the ND-2500A so no problems with iTunes and Finder disc burning compatibility.

Since I've been doing a lot of DVD ripping right now, I decided that I don't wanna wear out my DVD±RW drive so I got myself a 16x DVD-ROM last week (JLMS/JVC Lite-On XJ/HD-166S). Great buy 'coz it reads and rips DVDs faster than the NEC ND-2500A, plus it's got superb error correction capabilities (much better than that of the ND-2500A). Scratched discs are not a problem for this drive. As usual, flashed it with a hacked firmware, again using a Wintel PC, to turn it into an RPC-1 drive. Installed it in place of the ND-2500A.

Finally, I got myself a generic external Firewire enclosure (ME-320) for my ND-2500A. It uses the Oxford 911 chipset so no problems using the enclosure with OS X. And although it's bulky, the casing looks great next to my MDD Power Mac. :-)

Hopefully, that's the last of my DVD burning hardware-related purchase (at least for the next 6 months, hehe). Not counting DVD blanks, of course (I'm on my second 50-pack of DVD+R blanks right now). ;-)

i should've stayed away from the mall, because everytime i go there and pass by apple center, i drop a wad of money

    most recently, i got:

    1. apple in-ear earphones (not as good as i thought they would be; should have saved up a bit for those shures)

    2. a swivel stand for the emac (pricey for a chunk of plastic--but actually quite beautiful, almost like a piece of modern sculpture).

Aren't we lucky that there are no Apple Retail Stores here like those in the US?
If there are, we would be dropping wads of money and this topic will be the most replied to topic in this board. :haha::haha:

My latest mac-related purchase is the STM Large Loop backpack- bought at @Games 2nd floor Virra Mall. It can actually fit two 17" laptops grabe! hehehe

@Games is a good resource of mac gadget and mobile accessories, thanks to Charlie! They also have the new iPod Mini cases, next to arrive are the Crumpler bags. Keep them coming!

    Ooooh I love this thread

We just got an MSI Wifi router (11g) with a built-in 4 port switch - the perfect solution for people with a mixed wired and wireless computers. Setup was a breeze, connecting to MyDSL and sharing that connection to a mixed network of 4 Desktop PCs, one old VAIO Lapto (using a USB Wifi 11b Dongle), all running on XP Pro and one Mac.

I passed by Apple Center Megamall this afternoon and got the ff:

    • RoadTools Podium CoolPad
    • A flat plug for the power adapter of my Albook. (really saves a lot of space in my bag)
    • Pawasapo Track Pad Film
    • CDR's (the famous white ones)
    • Mini-jack to RCA cable for the iPod
