    Default Free SMS over I.P.

    Hi All,

I was just wondering if there is a MAC alternative to Chikka. I need a program which could send SMS over IP to Globe PH, Cingular (US GSM service), TMobile (US), and Orange (UK).

I wanted to try your suggestions on some Freeware apps any of you might be using for this type of SMS service.

    Thanks a mil muggers!

I would suggest that you used Cingular Send a Message Website to send txt messages to Cingular subscribers in the US (http://www.cingular.com/sendamessage). I recall there is not limit on how many text messages you want to send to the subscriber.

You're limited to a certain number of texts a day (I think 10) but for free texting on the Mac, I use ICQ. Just select any person on your buddy list as the recipient and then select Send SMS, and enter the number of the desired recipient in the space for the phone number.

Gee, thank you for the tip on ICQ, Vic & Myles!

Definitely a good-enough reason to start using ICQ again.

Same here. Still remember my old ICQ number. Nice to have it at home and at the office.

Thanks for the help Vic & Myles! I'll try it out tonite!

I was also reading that we could use iCHATav to send out SMS, it works for I.P. to US numbers, but theres major lag and it only works for US GSM providers.

    Hi Vic,

This is so handy. It works. Now i can try my other friends.

Question, can I actually send the SMS using one buddy name and just add the phone numbers in the buddy name's list? :wound:
