Eminem loses it with Apple
25.02.2004 8.20 pm
DETROIT - Rap superstar Eminem, who says he could earn more than $US10 million ($NZ14.64 million) for endorsing a product, is suing Apple Computer on grounds it used one of his hit songs in a TV advertisement without permission.
Eight Mile Style, music publisher of the artist whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, filed the copyright infringement lawsuit last Friday in US District Court in Detroit.

It's also a matter of principle. Apple and their ad agency Chiat/Day knowingly used Eminem's copyrighted material without his express consent.

It's ironic that a company that promotes legal music downloads turns around and uses an unauthorized song for a commercial. What were they thinkging?!
Steve's gonna be short by as much as $10M? Ouch! Hope it doesn't get passed down to us innocent consumers.
