Default Change Screen Resolution NOT from prefs

    hey philmuggers how u doin?

i was just wondering if u guys know of such a program of sum kind or watever that can change the screen resolution without goin into sys prefs. [admins locked some items in the sys prefs, including screen res]

im asking u guys this coz the screen at school uses only 1024x768px which is kinda small wen working on programs with so many palletes... when palletes are on it takes up half the screen.

if u guys know how to do this or if u guys know of some program that would let me do this. it would help

ez, if there's a monitor icon on the menu bar you can click it and choose a resolution that fits you. If not, just ask your admin to enable "show display on menu bar" in the Display sys prefs. I really don't see why this has to be restricted though.

exactly. before they upgraded the rest of the macs in our lab to OS X we requested that they leave the Display Prefs unlocked. But they didnt and still locked it.

Also, the reason i asked this [the subject] is beacause before when i was using the Win platform, even though control panel is disabled, there was this little app that when launched sits on the taskbar and allow you to scroll on different screen rez the monitor/card supports.

But then again, there wont be any other work around on this, right? except to have it unlocked?

i dont know... but they lock most of the items on the prefs. and i think they only leave us the first row at the top

edit... no, ... its just Desktop, Dock, General, Screen Saver, Kboard, Mouse, and Sound

Have you tried System Prefs>Displays (check show displays in menu bar)?
Unless maybe through geeky commands in the terminal, I failed to disable the show display in menu bar pref in the system prefs.

If that little app uses a little monitor as an icon AFAIK it not really an app but similar to a shortcut to your monitor settings in the control panel. It's basically the same implementation with OSX with the monitor icon on the menu bar. Of course you can still check versiontracker.com.
