Whats wrong with my USB Flash drive?
How come I have been getting the following folders on my usb flash drive whenever I transfer files from mac to PC?
.Trashes
.DS_Store
Deleted them but it regenerates everytime I plug the USB drive on a PC. Those folders never show up on the mac however. Weird@!
What gives? Is my USB flash drive not compatible with mac? or Is it defective?
Also I notice that the files in the flash drive are duplicated. The duplicated file names appear in this format: ._file1 , ._file2 etc.

there's nothing wrong with your usb flash drive.
you only see those files when you view them on your pc, right? they're invisible on the mac.
i don't know what they're called, but they're sort of like pointer files that tell your mac that those files came from the pc. don't delete them. i tried deleting those files once (the one with the dot prefix) and when i tried opening the file (the one without the dot prefix) on my mac, my mac just hanged.

yep. i've noticed that too even on my email attachments. it seemed like they're read only files from mac. haha, i can still recall my boss remarks "ano ba yang pinagsesend mo, hindi ko mabuksan, tapos dalawa dalawa pa...".

There's a free program for the Mac called DE_DDS that can remove these things if it's getting to your nerves. :drunk: http://extraneous.us/
