type-41 error

my old 8600/200 has this error, i cant boot, i tried starting with extensions off, zapping the PRAM, booting with externsions manager,still it won't start. i also tried booting from the CD but it can't detect the cd in the cd rom...any more things that i missed doing before sending my mac to the technicians?
