    Welcome to PhilMUG

Is you P900 setup up to work with your Mac already? If it is, skip to step 3.

    1. Make sure your P900's Bluetooth is switch on and set to discoverable.

    2. Click on the Bluetooth icon in your menu bar and select Set up Bluetooth Device... (if you don't have it there, go to System Preferences -> Bluetooth -> Settings. Check the box labeled Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar.

    3. Once your P900 is properly set up, just go to the Address Book and click on the Bluetooth icon in the upper-left corner. It will turn blue when it connects successfully to your P900.

    4. To send an SMS, just click on a person's mobile number and select SMS Message.

Oops. I don't have a P900 and presumed it would work like the other phones. Can someone please confirm if it's really not possible?

Using a P900 with a Mac is definitely frustrating. Sometimes you've got a good connection & sometimes you don't. You'll have no problems using the other SE (non-Symbian) cellphones.

After reading this thread my curiosity got the better of me and I bought a Bluetooth USB Adapter from billionton at Apple Center Mega today. Set-up was easy and so is sending SMS on my SE T610 as per Patrick's instructions. I noticed that the maximum number of characters you can send is 150. Is there a way to increase this? Also is there an easier way to transfer my contacts from my T610 Phonebook to my eMac address book? Pardon a newbie question.

You cannot send SMS via P900. I have been trying to check for ways to do this and found Christ Miles URL..

    But:

Sending and receiving SMS messages, however, appears to be impossible with the P900 (and P800) due to Sony Ericsson not including support for SMS via the "at" command-set over Bluetooth in these phones. That is the information I found in the Sony Ericsson developer site anyway. See this Knowledge Base article and these forum articles, article1, article2 (sign-up required). If anyone knows any good alternatives I would love to here about them.

I successfully tried seeing the calling party in my Ibook.. also tried answering the call via iBook.. But you still have to physically put the P900 on your ear.. It just beats the purpose of looking at your mobile phone to know who's calling..

i just sync my contacts and calendar so this is pretty useful and i like bluetooth-ing songs to use as my tones and such.

    enjoy!

Some people have found Blue PhoneMenu useful to symbian-based phones. It's freeware, why not give it a try. Check out www.versiontracker.com for the latest version.
