    Default Should I switch?

Hi everyone! I'm really new here so pls bear with me. I'm a complete amateur ( idiot? : ) ) with computers so whether it be with windows or a MaC, it doesn't make a difference. Have inherited my daughter's jurassic pc since she moved away for college and have basically just used the pc for emails and now ( slowly but surely ) learning photoshop. Have quite a number of photos saved on the pc and it seems to have slowed my pc even more. My friend recommended I switch and buy a powerbook. Have been contemplating and am almost convinced that I should. Should I? I know it looks really gorgeous. Got an IPOD, too which I must admit has given me great joy.
Now my question is: Would it be harder for a computer illiterate like moi to learn how to operate the MAC? Some say its way easier than windows. Can anyone pls give me some advice.
Thank you very much for any help/suggestions you can give me.

Hello Cheena and welcome to philmug.

nothing beats hands on experience when it comes to learning a new thing. You don't have to be a geek to learn MAC.
I'm sure a lot of the guys here will be willing to answer your questions if you ask.

I'd go ahead and switch if I were you. :P

Thanks for your reply Scooter! Can anyone recommend where I can purchase one for the best price? Best, meaning, the cheapest buy? I'm thinking of maybe a 12" or 15" PB since it looks soooooo cute. And also, when you buy one, does it include the softwares na ba? Or do you buy that separately?
    Thanks again

    First off, welcom to PhilMUG.

Since you say that you do not know much about computers, i'd say go ahead, save yourself a lot of trouble and go get a Mac. An iBook or a PowerBook, as long as its a Mac.

There is a current on-going thread, here: http://www.philmug.ph/viewthread.php?tid=3659

Check it out, if you haven't already done so.

:evil:Since you asked. 'should you be getting a Mac?' on a Mac forum, you probably knew the answer even before you clicked the New Topic button.

I use PC at my office and I have a personal <ahem>PowerBook</ahem> I use primarily for picture editing - just like how you plan to use your future computer. I really like more using the Mac (been using it for a little more than 3 mos - have used PC for the last 12 years)...im experimenting right mow at installing Oracle (database software) on my Mac so I can use it also in my office for work...

    my 3cents (3 kasi mahaba),

Hi Cheena, I recently purchased my ibooks at LMK Commercial. Very nice people. The number is +632 8525223 look For Marcy. Tell her Amiel recommended you.

As for switching to a Mac, all I can say is it's a lot easier to use. I'm still a PC user but I use an ibook for mobility. You have to configure a PC for a router and network usage. But on my wife's ibook, I just plugged in and it ran like someone else fixed it for me. It even sees the network right away, and I didn't even have to change the workgroup settings.

    Hi Cheena... welcome on-board!

If somebody asks me, if it's hard to use a Mac.. i just simply tell them...

"Mac is the PC (personal computer) preferred by those retiring (say 60+ yrs old above), who don't have enough time to learn how to use a computer." Go figure.

It's pretty simple to use, yet, so powerful. Needless to say, it's beautiful. Try putting a DELL and just an iBOok side by side, you surely tell urself. There's no competition. Hands down for a Mac.

So far, I've converted 8 WINDOWS users, since owning my first mac just last year... and they are loving it.

RandyTamayo...I know I did ask a stupid question :lol: Obviously, asking here at the Mac forum meant that, I just needed confirmation and a boost before I take the plunge and spend the $$$. It ain't cheap so I want to make sure that my money wouldnt go to waste. Baka you can teach me further how to use the powerbook for picture editing? hint...hint... But seriously, thanks for your input.

Juice...thanks for the recommendation. I will call LMK. Btw, do they have yearly sales? I wonder if they will put the powerbook on sale. I don't mind waiting.

McArenas...I may have retired from business, but it doesn't mean that i'm 60 or older  snif* But thanks for your response.
