Default Quick iMovie Question from newbie

Used iMovie to capture some clips from miniDV, and burned them unto a cd.

How do I get them to play on a pc? I thought they would be mpeg files hahahaha but apparently not.

Couldn't view them on Quicktime either

If you export using the Quicktime format... your PC must have Quicktime installed to view the .mov file.

Or you could export the movie to DVD if you have a superdrive.

it was exported presumably straight out of iMovie as a *.dv file.. I tried opening it from Quicktime 6.5.1 but no go. Under windows explorer, it is merely listed as "file".

Won't play on Windows Media either.

Now all i need is software on a PC that can play *.dv file encoded from an iMac.. is there such a thing?

Or is there software for PC that can convert *.dv into mpeg1?

Just burn another one, only this time export it as a Quicktime file. If you have superdrive, use iDVD (the simplest). Just drag the Quicktime file it the iDVD project and it'll burn it for you. VCD, SVCD, miniDVD formats are also alternatives if you don't have a Superdrive.

For PC, I still suggest exporting it as a .mov file. Then maybe you could just download for freeQuicktime for PC . Even if you use OS X's burning application, I'm sure it will open on PC's with Quicktime.
