    Default Questions RE: iMic

I was just wondering what brand of Mic do you use with your Mac's. May it be portable or desktops. My dilemma is, I've tried using 2 different kinds of mics that I use for my PC's. Neither of them work on my New PBook or PMac. I tried it with an iMic and the result is still the same.

    Any ideas?

I've used all manner of microphones, from cheap Taiwan-made ones to professional lapels, and they all work fine. Right now I'm using a good-quality one that came bundled with a Japanese Language learning software I'm using.

Could it be you haven't tweaked the settings properly in SystemPrefs? You have to select the input (if you're using the iMic, you have to select the USB input), and adjust the input levels for optimum use. It's not quite plug-and-play.

Adel is right on the money. I set up mine as described in the Adel's post. iMic works fine. You can even use it as a DJ tool.

I actually don't like using iMic as much. It's not as crisp as I want it to sound. But for the price it should do a satisfactory job of digitizing the audio.

I tried everything, even going on their support site just to make sure I did everything right. But, to no avail. *sigh*

one of the mic's came from a sony vaio that i used to have. nothing at all. The other one is a cheap mic on a stand which I got from Bestbuy. Still doesn't work. I'm wondering if it's coz of the cheap mic's for some reason. I tried it on the PC, it works. I tried it on my new TiBook, nothing. On my G4 Desktop (connected via iMic), nothing still. Seems rather odd don't you think?

feel kind of hesitant to ask you this, but worth a try right? have you tried turning the switch of the imic to the microphone side rather than the headphone side? one is for input and the other is for output. sorry if this is a dumb reply/question. :S
