    Default New Powerbooks and AppleCare

    Hey guys,

Curious to find out who of you bought new Powerbooks locally with the supposed included 3 year Applecare warranty. I'm asking because i just got mine and my dealer claims it's covered by a 3 year Applecare warranty, but no Applecare box or policy number to show for it. I asked around and according to PowerMac, LMK and Senco, they include the separate Applecare box with all the new Powerbooks. I didn't get mine ...

They told me just to register on the Internet. Everytime I try, it asks me for my APP policy number, which is in the APP box

I've called Apple USA, Singapore and they both said that ALL powerbooks come with standard 1 year warranty, unless you have an included APP which i don't have. Am i getting jerked around or what? The reason i'm so pissed is because I could've bought my PB in the US for $1599 + $349 for the APP and it'll still come out cheaper than buying it from here... And aside from the money issue, it's more of a principle issue. Did I get what I paid for or did I get jerked?

Your inputs and replies would be most helpful.

who'd you get it from? you should get an APP enrollment number that you can register online. call your dealer pronto and demand it, or some proof of APP enrollment.

Well, I got one of the new ibooks with the supposed 3 year warranty included from Apple Center in Greenbelt. I asked the girl there to clarify again about the warranty and she said three years. I didn't get any apple care forms or a box but she did ask for my details and she checked the serial number for the warranty daw so I don't have to do it myself. I dunno much about it but she did say that they'll service my computer for 3 years for free so that's good enough for me.

that sounds ok to me--apple center does register APP for you, if you don't care to do it yourself--but, mikeygar, i hope you have an official receipt that does mention applecare or a three-year warranty (1 year regular + 2 years applecare) somewhere.

If your dealer claims its has 3 yr warranty... ask for it or let them do it for you. If it is included as a promo it must be given or else... DTI will be mad :P

I suggest talk to your dealer, if possible meet with the Sales Manager or GM accordingly and explain what you want. If not wala pa rin u2u me.

Talked with Apple Singapore and they were the ones who actually registered the extended warranty before they shipped the Macs to the Philippines. I just sent my serial number to confirm if my powerbook's registered.

I bought the new 15'' superdrive from Ynzal and I was told that like all new powerbooks purchased in the Philippines it comes with a three year warranty. This is the reason why it is more expensive than units bought elsewhere. I would not call it Apple Care though since you can't register it as such.

I bought the same one from Ynzal. No apple care box or anything. They just told me to register it via apple site. I'm taking their word for it. I don't think Ynzal will taint their name for roughly 10-15t pesos. Their dignity is worth more than that. Imagine if they said it came with three years and then it didn't, with the power of the internet they could be closed in no time at all. It would hurt them more not to tell the truth. I will double check though with Apple Singapore just to be on the safe side.

For sure they won't but sometimes miscommunication do happen.I still think Apple Singapore should put everything on paper.

    Guys,

Got an email from Sarah Lumang, MSI-Digiland's Apple product manager: I guess you should contact your dealer to verify your warranty if you have any questions. Will be calling Apple's helpline to verify this information.

Glad to be of assistance. You need not worry. The dealers have been properly
informed of the correct procedure to track down these warranty issues.

    Best,

Thank you for your mail as this answers my questions and alleviates my
concerns. Maybe you can teach your dealers how to do this search so dealers
themselves can verify this information and relay it to their customers. As
mentioned in my last mail, several other new users have the same concern as
    mine.

    Regards,
