Hi all!
A friend knows someone who sells MBP 13-inch for 50k--buy one, take one. My friend told me that the seller said their price is cheap because "the units come straight from the supplier and have to be ordered so you will have to deposit 25k first. In two weeks, your unit will be delivered."
Now I know there are at least five wrong things in the paragraph above. It has been 3 weeks since they (4 of them) placed their orders and the seller informed them that he is still waiting for for the customs to release the units.
I tried texting the guy to inquire if he has Apple Care and I was told the same thing. Deposit the money, wait for two weeks. He's selling it for 8k. I asked if I could have two of his IDs for my protection but he told me his bank details would be his guarantee.
Of course, I'm not buying it. Literally and figuratively.
Now my question is, has anyone of you ever encountered a deal like this? I hate to put a cloud of doubt over my friend's head but isn't this too good a deal to be true? An MBP for 25k, brand new?!

Re: An MBP for 25k? Obviously a scam. Smuggled goods that are sold at lower prices compared to average are one thing, but "pay now and wait for xx time" just reeks of suspicion.

Re: An MBP for 25k? I won't even say be careful. Find other ways to get a good price on a mac - refurbished, resellers, 2nd hand units, etc..
As they say, If you're doubting it because it's too good to be true, then it's not.

Re: An MBP for 25k? I agree with the everyone here, it is indeed odd. However there are times that great deals actually come out of the blue but they are usually from owners of second hand units and not brand new Macs.
