    Default Mac Maintenance/System Tools/Administrative Tools?

Hey guys, just wanted to ask if anyone can redirect me or post some tips here on how to do routine maintenance in Mac? I mean, in Windows, there's Disk Defragmenter and there's Disk Cleanup.

Does anyone know if there's a parallel routine to Mac that will make sure it's clean and organized? If anyone can please post a former thread here, website, anything safe that i can do, haha. I don't want to erase my entire disk just like that, haha.

    Thanks in advance!

I use AppCleaner when deleting programs, so all the associated library files get deleted too.

I'm trying to figure out Onyx myself.

My favorite tool to cleanly delete unwanted apps is AppZapper. Awesome! For regular maintenance, I use DiskUtility and DiskWarrior. And I know a lot of Mac users use Drive Genius and TechTool Pro.

But the really nice thing about the Mac is that you don't need to spend too much time, effort and energy "maintaining" it than you have to, unlike PCs. So, the old dogged maintenance mentality should be banished. Of course, having said that, that's not to say we should be careless. The point is, we are allowed to relax and to enjoy using our machines.

AppZapper ($12.95) or AppDelete (freeware) for deleting/uninstalling unneeded applications.

TechToolPro helps recover, repair, and optimize your hard disk. ($77.99 in Amazon.com)

    (from macupdate):
TechTool Pro 4 now features a suite of S.M.A.R.T tests (Self Monitoring Analysis And Reporting Technology). Most modern hard drives now support this industry standard that employs predictive diagnostics and analysis to help foresee a drive failure BEFORE it happens. TechTool Pro 4's SMART test allows you to automatically monitor this vital data and be forewarned of impending danger to your data, allowing you to back up critical information before disaster strikes.

AppleJack (freeware) is a user friendly troubleshooting assistant for Mac OS X. With AppleJack you can troubleshoot a computer even if you can't load the GUI, or don't have a startup CD handy. AppleJack runs in Single User Mode and is menu-based for ease of use.
Using AppleJack, you can repair your disk, repair permissions, validate the system's preference files, and get rid of possibly corrupted cache files. In most cases, these operations can help get your machine back on track. The important thing is that you don't need another startup disk with you.
