Intrigued with Apple script

Hi guys, I recently just switched from Win To Mac. I'm pretty much satisfied with my switch. Cool interface, fast keyboard shortcut and my mac just runs all my app with no signs of distress. One feature that caught my eye is the apple script. It excites me that it can automate your mac in doing many tasks. I just need a little help from peep out there who knows apple script.

eg: If i want to delete a file/folder, lets say in a weekly basis, is there a script for this? If so, how?

There is a record function in AppleScript. Turn it on, delete a folder, and you've got a ready made script for deleting that same folder.
