internet connect reminder and other newbie questions

being a newbie, i suppose this is going to be the first of a series of basic questions about the mac (stuff i can't find in machelp).

1. an irritating diaolog box periodically pops up asking me if i still want to remain connected to the internet. how may i disable this?

Go to System Preferences and choose Network Preferences.
Click the Configure button.
Click PPP options
Uncheck "Prompt every XX minutes to maintain connection"
