My MBP 2011 has Apple 2010 on it also. Sir Charlie is a trustworthy person. I am sure he would never cheat his customers.

I bought an MBP 2011 last sunday. However, while the package states "2011 Apple Inc.", the macbook pro when i look at its bottom states "2010 Apple Inc." Is this normal? Why do the years printed not match? How do I know if I indeed bought an MBP 2011 model? Btw, my MBP model is a1278 macbook pro...

@thomasfeu04: since you are new in this forum, try to read posts around so you could learn how to post an informative & respectful inquiry like the edited one above, and learn to go directly to the proper people concerned before "accusing" or "implying" in public/social media.

I think the thread starter should have reworded the title of his thread properly. that has nothing to do whether he is a newbie with the mac or with any sort of technology. using the words "dismay" and "cheated" has a negative connotation. Why even suggest fraud in the first place? I know this section of the forum is for newbies but manners and decorum should always be observed.

Mine says 2010 too. But then I just knew about that now. I don't really check the literature on my gadgets Apple. That's how much I trust the hardware.

I'd also like to back up Fr Allen's statement earlier. PhilMIG is indeed one of the mutual-respect-toting forums, and reading the "angas" thread would be an enlightenment.

Yeah, I just checked. My 2 month old 2011 MBP also says Copyright 2010 in the bottom.

I'm very sure it's a 2011 Macbook Pro because...

- It has a Thunderbolt port. Look at the left side and you should see a lighting symbol. No symbol means it is not a 2011 Macbook.
- I entered the serial number at http://selfsolve.apple.com and it verified it is a 2011 MBP.
- I looked at the box of my MBP and it also has a Thunderbolt logo on the side.
- I clicked the Apple Logo, clicked About This Mac, clicked More Info and it showed it’s a Macbook Pro 8,2. The 2011 Macbook Pros start with an 8.

To Thomasfeu04, try any of the four items above. If even ONE of them is not true, then please bring it back, you definitely did not deserve to get a 2010 MBP if you paid for a 2011. If one is true, then try the other 3 to be sure. If all 4 are correct, then now you have quadruple checked that you definitely have a 2011 MBP.

Let us know soon how it goes. If we don't receive a reply in 48 hours, we'll assume everything is well and we'll adjust the thread title accordingly. Hope everything is alright!

Pahabol: Here's the screen from selfsolve.apple.com that confirms I have a 2011 MBP. Your screen should show something similar.
I hid my serial number for security purposes. Again, my MBP also says Copyright 2010 in the bottom.

This what makes Philmug one of my favorite Mac forums. In other forums the OP would have been flamed and the thread eventually locked because of the bickering. While here, people are trying to understand the OP and giving him/her useful cool headed advice.
